Take a stroll over the mighty, mighty Clarence. If you are really lucky they might open the bridge for a vessel.
The Clarence River begins at Rivertreee in Queensland where 2 smaller rivers meet and the Clarence is born. It travels many kilometres along the tablelands and coastal area until it meets the sea at Yamba. Surprisingly for such a long river there are very few bridge crossings. This crossing at Harwood Bridge is the first one inland from the sea. Harwood Bridge has good views in both directions along the river and you can see the sugar mill at Harwood as well as the slipway on Harwood Island. This was once a busy section of River with ships of all kinds using the river as far as Grafton for passenger or cargo use. Please beware when searching for this cache that the GPS readings were a little upset by all the steel on the bridge and your GPS may point you onto the road. The cache is accessed from the walkway only. DO NOT attempt to use the road access.
