Geocache Description:

Rock Elm Shelter

Devil's Lake is the largest and most visited State Park in Wisconsin. 2011 marked it's 100 year anniversary with a substantial increase in the number of visitors. Unfortunately, all of that use resulted in lots of litter being left behind. Please join us for a CITO and potluck to help clean up the park.

We have the use of the Rock Elm shelter for our activities. The Rock Elm shelter was the first structure built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the 1930s. It has an indoor area that can accomodate 40-50 people, a fireplace and two attached semi-enclosed seating areas.

Park Naturalist Sue Johansen will be leading a nature walk on the East Bluff Trail beginning at 10:00am. Learn about the geology of the area and see it up close.

If you haven't cached at Devil's Lake lately, you may be suprized at the number of caches that have been placed in the last year. There are now 23 caches inside the park and we hope to have a few more new ones added the day of the event.
