Geocache Description:

You too can celebrate the comming of the new season by hunting for this Geocache. It is in a black plastic Lock-N-Lock container. Enjoy the walk in a woods. Our first Vernal Equinox cache was put into place in March 2002. This is the 22nd of our seasonal caches.

The Vernal Equinox, the first official day of Spring, this year is on March 20 at 7:21PM.(2321 UTC) It is the point at which the sun crosses the celestial equator from south to north. This signals the beginning of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere. The vernal equinox has long been a significant event in the lives of agricultural peoples as it symbolizes nature's regeneration, fertility, growth and bounty. The word equinox comes from Latin and means "equal night". On this day, night and day each last twelve hours. The Vernal Equinox used to be considered the beginning of the Pagan New Year. It was a time of joy called forth by the resurrection of the "Light of the World" (sun god) from the underworld of the winter, from where he arose to join his goddess Eostre. This cache will remain in place until the first day of Summer. Please return the cache to its hiding place the way you found it.
