COORDINATES, WHICH ARE FOR THE TRAILHEAD
In
Beleriand's center lay Doriath, a mighty forest. The Sindar, the
Grey Elves, made Doriath their home and were ruled for countless
years by Elu Thingol. Much is told of Doriath, from the love and
feats of Beren and Lúthien to the tragic tale of Túrin Turambar,
son of Húrin, and the maid Níniel.
Queen Melian placed a powerful enchantment around Doriath, such
that none could enter save that they had the leave of Thingol. But
there was a secret way, a path through a narrow ravine. Guarded
closely by two tall, watchful trees, this secret path lay in place
for those few who knew its start and end.
From the posted coordinates, proceed up the narrow ravine, find the
guardian trees, and enter your name in the book of Doriath's secret
visitors.
CACHE NOTES:
1. This cache is on NC Game Lands, so please check the particular
schedule for this portion of Game Lands to determine a safe time to
seek these caches Caswell
Game Lands Info. Despite the existence of “no hunting
Sundays”, I always wear blaze orange, just to be on the safe
side.
2. Enter and access parking at N 36 22.828, W 79 19.830.
