Time: Coordinates to the event stages will be posted at 7 am on the day of the event. A meet-n-greet will follow at 5 pm.
Location: Stages - various. Meet-in-greet - Public beach near Zanpa point (see map).
The Details
Come out for some virtual caching fun. Compete against other cachers in a race to see who will be able to find all of the hidden items at various locations across central Okinawa.
On the day of the event, I will send an Email to all signed up participants which will contain a PDF file. This PDF file will contain a list of coordinates and a picture for each coordinate in the list. Each picture will be something that will have to be found near the associated coordinates.
Event participants will have until 5 pm on the event day to complete this list of finds.
Finding Requirements
To correctly log each location in the list, a participant will have to locate the item in a given picture by having a picture taken of them pointing to the object shown in the picture. A picture of a participant standing in the general vicinity of a given item will not be counted.
Starting at 4:30 pm I will be at the event coordinates to begin the photo verification. Any form of a digital photo will be acceptable (cell phone, digital camera, iPhone, Nintendo DSi, etc.).
IMPORTANT - You must be at the posted coordinates for the event NLT 5 pm. I will not accept any photos after this. Naturally, I won't be able to view everyone's photos by 5, but I need to see you present and waiting. This is a timed event and 5 pm is the cutoff time.
The person with the most correct finds will be awarded FTF for the event. There will be additional challenges involved, so be prepared to complete these in addition to the myriad of places I've cataloged.
A meet-n-greet will follow after the photo verification and awards are given out. I will be presenting a special award to DDRAMS in congratulations for logging his 1000th cache find recently and will also be covering some basic tips on caching in Okinawa.
Also, no food will be provided at the event, so please come prepared if you are hungry. The beach offers one of the best sunsets on the island.
