Plan to join us on Saturday, April 2, 2011, from 2:00-4:30pm
as we combine a Geocaching Meet & Greet with the wonder and
excitement of a real carousel as it becomes a reality. Painted
ponies, a proud lion and a rampaging boar are just a few of the
many carousel animals that you will see as part of this event.
Educational opportunities abound as children of all ages can see
first-hand the time-honored techniques used to create these
wonderful pieces. Watch as animals go from sketches on paper,
through the hand-carving processes, to the finished product in the
art studio. Watch real wood carvers ply their trade to create these
carousel animals. This is an event that the whole family will enjoy
so plan to bring the “micro” geocachers as well.
Albany is full of history and art so while you’re here, check
it out by doing GC2K3PA Albany Sculpture Tour (The Carousel
is part of this one), GC2N19F Albany Walk About and
GC2N19H Albany Wall Gallery. Just up the street is
GC2G54D Mr. Frog goes Postal as well as many others in the
surrounding downtown area.

We will meet at the Albany Historic Carousel & Museum, 503
1st Avenue W, Albany, OR 97321. Bring your coins and travel
bugs to trade and discover or share in whatever way you wish. Feel
free to also bring along snacks to share while we
socialize.
