Geocache Description:

Too Much Information (TMI) in St Louis – TMIiStL This cache is not at these coordinates and it is not very close to these coordinates. This cache is in a public place. When looking for this cache don’t go into areas where you don’t belong. I consider the cache to be at a very safe location. If you feel in danger in any way you are most likely at the wrong spot.

Warning: Bees Nest Aproximately 3 feet from this cache. Please be very careful.

THIS CACHE IS NOW 50 FEET NORTH OF GZ, IN THE BASE OF A LARGE MULTI-TRUNK TREE, BENEATH A COLLECTION OF LEAVES. The cache has been muggled twice. If you don't find the container, email me. If you tell me what is at GZ, how many trunks are in the tree, and what is strange about the base of the tree where the cache was hidden I can confirm if you are at the right place.

Being any place off limits because of location or time is illegal and subject to arrest. Please obey all of the laws and rules. Do not trespass. Do not risk your health or safety.

The question mark on the map for this cache is in Forest Park. The actual cache is somewhere in Forest Park.

This cache is all about TMI. You’re probably wondering how can TMI be bad. Won’t more information make it easier for me to find the cache? If this cache had only 3 groups of points and distances it would be a lot easier than it is. Since this cache is about TMI, there are 12 groups of points and distances. Read on and you’ll learn why more information isn’t helpful. I think you’ll agree that this is a case of TMI in St Louis.

I expect this cache will require some real work. If you have a GPS built into your head you might be able to walk around St Louis County until you reach GZ, but I don’t think this is too likely. If you want an easy cache visit my MHQaDKP. If you’re a member of the armchair cachers’ hall of fame then you’ll probably enjoy this one. If you are the FTF or solve this one in a few minutes you should be in the armchair cachers’ hall of fame.

If you solve this by the “random walk” method please post your random walk time. If you use the "armchair" method please estimate your armchair time for consideration in the hall of fame. Good luck to everyone.

Now for the distances. Below are 12 distances listed in feet. The distances are listed from the smallest number to the largest number. Each one of these distances is associated with one of the interesting places in St Louis. The problem is, you have to figure out which distance is associated with which interesting place. If you do this correctly you will find that the distances are the distances from their respective interesting place to the cache.

  2. 9,649 feet or aprox. 1.8 miles

  12. 45,960 feet or aprox. 8.7 miles

That’s it – have fun!

Note: These distances are calculated using a great circle calculation. For verification, the distance given from N 38 38.000 W 90 20.000 to N 38 39.000 W 90 21.000 is 7710 feet. There are several web pages that match this calculation. This link gives measurements equal to the web page I used. Click Here. If you google “GPS Latitude and Longitude Distance Calculator” you might find such a calculator, some sort of gpsdistcalc online calculator, from some type of computer support group. The site I use has ads on the web pages so I can’t post a link to it here, but I will assist anyone who requests help finding this page.

You are looking for a non-standard micro container, bigger than a nano, with a little bit of a twist. Some might say that this one is for the ladies. There is no writing instrument and no room for trading items.
