Geocache Description:

This cache is located along a narrow, twisting single track road - known locally as Clegir - which runs from the outskirts of Llanrug to Llanberis and is high above Penllyn – (which means the head of the lake – in this instance Padarn Lake)
It's a small plastic food box containing 12 low denomination foreign coins a log book and a few pencils.
There are some great views here – take a camera with you!

THIS CACHE CANNOT BE ACCESSED FROM THE ROADSIDE - GO THROUGH THE GATE LEADING TO THE FOOTPATH TO ACCESS.

You can do this as a long mainly uphill walk, a drive by or part drive and a shorter less strenuous walk.
To get to the parking area turn up the hill at the crossroads on the A4086 near the Glyntwrog Inn (signposted Ceunant 1 ½ miles) Glyntwrog coordinates N53 . 08.774 W004 .10 . 890.
Travel up the hill to next crossroads and turn left (signposted Bryn Bras Castle and Brynteg). along a single track road. Just after a white bungalow on the right the road splits at a Y junction – take the road leading to the right signposted Brynteg. Drive onwards and upwards past the Brynteg Holiday Park until you reach the cattle grid
I would suggest parking near the cattle grid at the top of the hill from the Llanrug end of the road and take a 10 – 15 minute walk to the cache. (Distance 0.35 miles) The walk has been rated on this basis not the long uphill walk.
There are sheep in this area so any dogs should be kept on a lead at all times please. Because of the terrain this cache is unsuitable for wheelchairs.
As a drive by you should drive carefully and look for a parking area (one car space on grass verge) located opposite a spot where there is a large gap in the wall at the moment (but this may be re-built when drainage work has been completed )– and near to a Public Footpath sign with a gate through which there is a path leading to locations further up the mountain.
Just through the gate to the right of the footpath is your search area –it's not located in the bracken but is at ground level and hidden in a natural cavity under one of the stones that forms the base of the wall.
None of the stones in the wall have to be moved or lifted but you may need to pull back some bracken near the wall to expose hiding place.

Another cache of mine is hidden near the suggested parking area - it's called See Penllyn from Clegir (First View)
