Geocache Description:

Small camo'd container hidden in the rocks.

Approximately 1,000 years ago, a people called the Kumeyaay lived throughout what is now San Diego County and Baja California. During that time, the Pauwai Valley was occupied by hundreds of Kumeyaay-Ipai living off the land. The Kumeyaay were still in Poway until the early 1900s. The term Kumeyaay was coined by native people and F. Shipek in the 1970s and is all inclusive of Diegueño and Kamia, the Yuman-speaking Indians of Imperial County over the mountains east of San Diego County.

This site is what appears to be where the Kumeyaay used to grind the acorn nuts (yes, there used to plenty of oak trees around here!) for their meals. Look on the East side of this rock formation for the divets in the tops of ther large rocks.

Please DO NOT disturb the area in any great manner looking for this cache. I have included a simple hint so you don't go tearing up the place. Please re-hide the cache as good or better than you found it as the local muggle chilcren like to play on and around these rocks! The teens also come up here to party so be discrete! Already one cache has been lost here to the muggles!
