Geocache Description:

A chance to enjoy a day up on Moncreiffe Hill exploring the many paths and views in the company of others.

The main event will be a Picnic between 2pm and 4pm (at the above coordinates) where there will be a log book and a pot for any trackables you may wish to swap. Don't forget your picnic rugs, your sandwiches and plenty of juice. Please poop and scoop and CITO your rubbish.

Moncreiffe Hill is to the east of the M90 trunk road, just a couple of miles south of Perth, sitting between the River Tay and River Earn, with excellent views from the top and plenty of mixed woodland to explore. There are more than 14km of trails through the woodlands, two hillforts and a trig point. Its name comes from the gaelic Monadh Craobh, or Hill of the Trees.

The hill has recently undergone a lot of work improving the area to include, thinning/planting of trees, newly laid paths, new fences, signposts, waymarker posts and information boards, as well as some wee surprises to amuse the youngsters as you walk around.

Some of the paths are steep in places. There are steep drops and cliffs at the top as well as timber stacks to keep the youngsters away from. Wee burns criss cross the area and there are a couple of small ponds. You are responsible for your own safety. The work is still ongoing and may be muddy in places, so please come appropriately dressed.

Take time to study the maps, see how little or how far you want to walk, join us for your lunch, and definately don't forget your camera.

I have a supply of leaflets showing the newly laid routes that I will bring with me, if anyone needs one in advance email me.

New caches in the area will be released Friday evening, 29th April.

Gates to the parking (Northern Entrance) will be open between 12 - 6pm. Please park on the grass after the information board on the right hand side.

With thanks to Dair Mor of PKCT Big Tree Country and Jill Aitken of Woodland Trust for their help with this event.
