This area "Boatman's" was never a rich alluvial gold field in comparison with other West Coast diggings, it contained payable pockets which could support numerous miners.
It derived its name fron an occasion when some boatmen were detained by a flood where the creek joins the Inangahua River. While waiting they tried some prospecting with highly payable results.
Cache is a 200ml sistema container with a log and a pencil.
