Geocache Description:

Cherry Willingham is a village located approximately four miles outside the city of Lincoln in Lincolnshire, England. It lies in the district of West Lindsey.

Neighbouring villages include Reepham, Nettleham and Fiskerton. Cherry Willingham is twinned with the French village Le Grand Luce. Approximately 3600 live here in over 1300 houses.

The site of this cache in Cherry Willingham overlooks the fields leading up to the river Witham , where is has been proposed that a new Marina is built. The wording below is from the Lincolnshire Echo, in November 2011.

The cache itself is in a small clip box (about 4” in length) which has been camouflaged. its high up so if you are under 6 foot you may need to stand on something to reach it and put it back! There are several houses overlooking this area, so be discreet, however one of the houses belongs to my parents who know about the cache!

A MULTI-million pound marina could breathe new life into Lincolnshire's waterways.

The proposed development could see a marina-led leisure complex on land at Eastfield Rise Farm, off Fiskerton Road in Cherry Willingham, just outside Lincoln.

About 50 jobs could be created if the project, which includes the construction of a hotel, restaurant and holiday lodges, goes ahead.

The proposal is a response to direct research from Lincolnshire Waterways Partnership, which identified a serious deficiency in waterway facilities in the county.

It is also hoped the project will open up new walkways, cyclepaths and bridleways, allowing greater access to the River Witham and the Viking Way route.

Traffic-calming measures are also being proposed, including a new roundabout in Fiskerton Road.

Andy Jee, project manager for the Lincolnshire Waterways Partnership, said: "Businesses and communities along our waterways will benefit from improved boating facilities."

Developers, working through Lincoln firm Globe Consultants, are aiming to submit a planning application for the marina before Christmas.

Globe director Phil Scrafton said: "There are big opportunities for our waterways and benefits to local communities by exploiting that with jobs and revenue. There's enormous potential for this proposal. There aren't enough facilities on Lincolnshire's waterways.

"We're only at the initial proposal stage, but we're keen to share our thoughts, ideas and aspirations with local residents so they can be involved from the start.

"We're aware the marina will be based in open countryside, but we're keen to make sure the impact is a positive part of the process, considering landscaping and habitat creation."
