In zeitlichen Abständen entstehen Bergstürze. Der
letzte Bergsturz ereignete sich am 3. April 1595.
Wenn also

The nature reserve
"Eingefallener Berg" is a geological natural monument and protected
since 1963. It is the largest and most stunning landslide area in
southern Thuringia. Landslides occur in intervals. The last
landslide occurred on April, 3th in 1595 and 458 years earlier, a
landslide buried the small settlement named "Dörfles". As the story
goes, the settlement was buried in 1137 including all of its
inhabitants.
The mountain
"Eingefallener Berg" is composed of limestone and the lower area of
shell limestone. The limestone is traversed by a rectangular column
and fracture system that is caused mainly by root explosions,
weathering, chemical decomposition, as well as freeze-thaw cycles.
This makes the rain water enter quickly through the rocks and meet
at its base the clay layers from the "Röt" of upper
sandstone.
This "Röt"-clay acts as a
groundwater dam which collects groundwater at the interface. Here,
the top layers of clay are water-soaked and may, with sufficient
pressure, flow slowly from above. Thus, if a vertical gap has eased
a rock complex, this rock complex pushes with its enormous weight
on the plastic clay and slips down the valley. Leached resources of
gypsum can accelerate the demolition mechanism by acting as
collapsing voids. This landslide leaves behind a steep rock wall
and a demolition debris pile at the foot of the
"Röt".
