The listed coordinates are not where the cache is located!
The cache is hidden at the base of a light post in a very visible location. It is covered with pine straw. Make sure you re-hide it with pine straw after finding it and signing the log.
The listed coordinates will put you in Market Square next to the historic steam clock. If you are standing here around the top or half of the hour, you may want to cover your ears!
Another in the "The Villages Tour" series. This time you are going to have a tour of the Sumter Landing area of The Villages. Scattered around Sumter landing are numerous 'historical markers'. These markers tell a robust history of this town.
It will be your job to locate ten of these 'markers', read them and apply the knowledge that you have gained to complete the coordinates to the actual cache.
The actual cache is located at N28 AB.CDE W081 FG.HIJ.
You will have to replace the letters in the coordinates with numbers that you derive from the statements below.
A = Subtract 5 from the number of years it took Mr. Waggoner to build both his home and another building (which is still standing) on the same site.
B = The number of letters in the name of the taxidermy Shop.
C = Subtract 3 from the age of the youngest student at the first school.
D = Subtract 11 from the number of children the Upton's brought from Pennsylvania in 1820.
E = The last digit of the year that rail service ceased operations.
F = The third digit in the year that a blast could be heard in Spanish Springs.
G = Subtract 10 from the number of years that a watering hole was a popular spot.
H = Subtract 4 from the last digit of the year that someone was kicked by a mule.
I = The last digit in the year that Mortimer and Myron died.
J = Add 3 to the amount of years that the Van Pattens lived in Spanish Springs.
On my Spanish Springs tour cache you had to wander around and find the correct signs. Here in Sumter Landing that might be an all day task as there are lots of "markers" around. So I have listed the coordinates for the needed "markers" below. They aren't in any particular order.
Coordinates to the "Historical markers".
All of the coordinates are the same except for the decimal portion.
They all begin with - N28 54.XXX W081 58.YYY
