Geocache Description:

A cache hidden near the summit of King Creek Ridge.

King Creek Ridge is a hard but rewarding hike offering excellent views of the Kananaskis Valley, the Opal Range, and more. A trip to the summit and back is about a 7km trek with approximately 700m elevation gain, the high point being 2423m above sea level.
Be sure to bring lots of water, food, layers and know your limits.

Park at the King Creek Day Use Area just north of the Kananaskis Lakes turnoff. From the car park walk back to the highway and cross the bridge to the north side of King Creek. From here climb the bank, pass remains of a paved road and follow a old grass road until a trail branches left into the trees. Not far along this trail forks, go left and then simply follow the trail the rest of the way.

The route is described in detail in Gillean Daffern's Kananaskis Country Trail Guidge 4th Edition Volume 1 Trail Number 43 (previous editions described a more difficult route ascending the steep south end of the ridge).

The cache itself is only a few steps away from the cairn in a rock cove. See the spoiler photo for more help.
