Earthcache Blankes Flat
Das „Blanke Flat“ ist ein Naturschutzgebiet in den Gemarkungen Esperke und Vesbeck der Stadt Neustadt am Rübenberge. Für den Naturfreund ist dieses Fleckchen Erde ein lohnendes Ziel.
Charakteristisch für das Gebiet sind verschiedene Waldformationen ärmerer Standorte. Hier sind insbesondere Eichen-Mischwälder, Birken- und Kiefer Bruchwald sowie Pfeifengras-Birken und Kiefern-Moorwald kennzeichnend. Einzelne vorhandene Talranddünen sind durch trockene Sandheidenvegetation geprägt.
Das Naturschutzgebiet enthält einen kleinen Heideweiher, auf dem sich im Sommer zahlreiche weiße Seerosen mit ihren tellerförmigen, grünen Blättern ausbreiten. Die überwucherte Vegetation durch Birken, Kiefern, Eichen, Brombeeren und Faulbeerbaum werden um das Ufer des Sees kurz gehalten (entkruselt), damit der Charakter der Heideflächen erhalten bleibt. Leider hat der See in den letzten, regenärmeren Jahren sehr gelitten und die Seefläche ist erheblich kleiner geworden.
Als Heideweiher werden natürliche oder naturnahe, schwach saure und oligotrophe Flachwasserseen der in erster Linie saaleglazialen Altmoränen-Sandgebiete im nordwestlichen Mitteleuropa bezeichnet. Die Formationen der Moränen lassen sich vor Ort gut erkennen.
Eine wichtige geologische Voraussetzung für die Entstehung von Heideweihern ist das Vorhandensein einer wasserundurchlässigen Stauschicht im Untergrund aus sogenanntem Podsol-Ortstein. Dieser Podsol-Ortstein entwickelt sich über etwa 1000 Jahre aus quarzreichen Gesteinen, wie Granit und Sandstein.

"Blankes Flat" is a nature reserve in the districts Esperke and Vesbeck of the city Neustadt am Rübenberge. For the nature lover this little spot of earth is a worthwhile aim.
Typically for the area are different forest formations of poorer locations. Here are characteristic different oaken mixed forests, birches and jaws break wood as well as whistle grass birches and pines-moor wood. Single available valley edge dunes are marked by dry sandy moor vegetation.
The nature reserve contains a small moor pond on which in summer numerous white water lilies with her plate-shaped, green sheets spread out. The overgrown vegetation by birches, pines, oaks, blackberries and Faulbeerbaum are held around the shore of the lake short (entkruselt), so that the character of the moor surfaces is preserved. Unfortunately, the lake has suffered during the last years because of poorer rains and the sea surface has considerably become smaller.
Natural or realistic, weakly sour and oligotrophe shallows lakes of the primarily saaleglazialen old moraine-sandy areas are called moor pond in northwest Central Europe. The formations of the moraines reveal well on site.
An essential geological precondition for the formation of moor ponds is a waterproof stony layer in the underground named Podsol-Ortstein. It needs about 1000 years that this Podsol-Ortstein develops from granite and sandstone.
