Most people you ask will think that "march madness" refers to
the NCAA College Basketball Playoffs each spring. A quick Google
search on "march madness" gave almost 7 million results, and the
first 3 pages were all college basketball (actually, I'll bet all
of them were).
However, for hundreds of local (and not-so-local) families,
March Madness each year means Hockey ... Hockey
... Hockey ! ! !
For the last several years, March Madness has been a series of
weekend tournaments at the Scottsville Ice Arena. The first weekend
in March is for Mites (kids ages 6 to 8), the second weekend in
March is for Squirts (ages 8 to 10), the third for Pee Wees (ages
10 to 12), and the final weekend in March is for Bantams and
Midgets (ages 12 to 18).
Scottsville Ice Arena has been the home rink for both of our
boys for the last several years. It is a great "family atmosphere"
rink, and it always feels like home any time we come here. They
have open skate all winter long on Saturday evenings and Sunday
afternoons, a great Winterfest each February (where we recently ran
into the Cimsagro4 and MDJL4Fun!), and a farmers market on weekends
all summer long.
The cache itself is a .30 cal "c-fire" ammo can hidden under
some wood. The one thing that makes this one unique is that
"c-fire" had a special at last summer's GeoRoc picnic event where
the kids were able to paint the can themselves. They had a bast
doing it, and we hope you like the unique camouflage on this
one.
You should be able to park fairly close, and there is a path on
the north side of the building that will take you most of the way
there. Please DO NOT park at the south side of the building,
as that is where the zamboni doors are, and please DO NOT
walk around the back (east) side of the building near the chillers
and other stored equipment.
