Sometimes, the weather isn't conducive to our favourite hobby of
caching, necessitating a lengthy stay indoors. For just such
occasions, we have the cache for you - a puzzle cache for which you
can do all the work indoors in the warm, as to solve the puzzle you
will need to make use of Google Street view, visiting locations
virtually rather than actually going there. Finally, a quick
non-virtual pop out to the final location.
Right, now for the puzzle. Go into Google Street view and
position yourselves on the road adjacent to GSV1's final co-ords
(For clarity, not the bogus co-ords for this cache and absolutely
nowhere near said bogus co-ords) and start heading
approximately south.
You will see a bench on your left (opposite some new-built
Houses on your right). how many people are sat at this bench? Call
this A.
Proceed all the way to the roundabout and take the (A + 1) exit.
As you continue you will pass a business premises on your left with
white paintwork. How many cars are parked in the car park? This is
B. How many words are in the title (not counting '&') This is
C. Add up the digits of the phone number (not counting STD code)
Call this D.
Continue down the road and you will see a group including
someone with a red top on. How many people are in that group? This
is E.
Continue down the road and you will see a business premises on
your right (related to fish) How many people are standing outside
(Call this F)
Go straight on at a T junction (The road to the right has (D + E
+ F) letters in it.) You will see a number of consecutive front
doors all painted in the same primary colour. How many? (call this
G). The colour has H letters in it.
Continue a bit further and see some objects all painted yellow.
How many? (J) and how many grey wheelie bins are on display just to
the left of this? (K)
You should approach a left hand bend with a turn to the right
just off it. Do a quick sum of (D - E). If your answer is even,
turn right. If your answer is odd, follow the road round to the
left.
You will see a light blue car parked on the left with some
estate agent's boards nearby. How many such boards? Call this
L.
Just a bit further down you'll see one house painted a bright
colour (by comparison to nearby houses anyway) opposite a flowery
meadow close to a T-junction. Take the first letter of this colour,
and convert it to a number using A=1, B =2 etc. Call the resulting
number M.
NO SPOILERS IN YOUR LOGS PLEASE - ESPECIALLY AS TO WHERE YOUR
LITTLE VIRTUAL JOURNEY HAS TAKEN YOU.
The final cache is located at: N52 (J-M)(K-F).A(B+C)F W0
(H*L).(G+E)K(L+B)
Final location is wheelchair and buggy friendly, although you
will need to park a good few minutes' walk away. Please park
considerately with respect to local residents. You may need stealth
at the final location although it was nice and quiet when we were
there. You'll need to bring a pen. You're looking for a small
plastic tube, suitably camo-ed up.
