The Presidents' Street Serie #15 - James Buchanan Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

caccbags: Since we are relocating to Idaho (with frequent trips back home) we decided to archive what we consider to be any of our lack-luster caches that have been muggled - saving our return trips home for maintenance of (in our opinion) our better caches. Unfortunately, this falls into the first category. Since it was missing, any cacher who logged a DNF between then and now can change it to a Found It log.

Geocache Description:

On Buchanan street is our nest President's cache in honor of President Buchanan....on Buchanan.

James Buchanan, Jr. (April 23, 1791 – June 1, 1868, was the 15th President of the United States from 1857 to 1861. He is the only president from Pennsylvania, the only president who remained a life-long bachelor, and the last one born in 18th century.

Buchanan (often called Buck-anan by his contemporaries) was a popular and experienced state politician and a successful attorney before his presidency. He represented Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives and later the Senate, and served as Minister to Russia under President Andrew Jackson. He also was Secretary of State under President James K. Polk. After turning down an offer for an appointment to the Supreme Court, President Franklin Pierce appointed him Minister to the United Kingdom, in which capacity he helped draft the controversial Ostend Manifesto.

The cache is a blinkie - it is tough to find. Please re-hide carefully and beware of Haight street muggles.
