Just off the Snake Pass (A57) is Derwent Valley.
It's an amazing area to walk or cycle around
This cache is hidden on the East side of the reservoir.
There is a large Pay&Display parking area over at Fairholmes, and various smaller but free parking area along the entrance road.
Take a picnic and enjoy the area, even in winter
Cache contains a notepad, and pencil, and a small puzzle
This is one of the most beautiful parts of the world for me, and I've always enjoyed walking/cycling around here.
There are numerous small parking places along the entrance road. This has been placed on the East side of the reservoir to ensure the finder sees some of the amazing sites around the place. The cache is hidden just off the side of Derwent Lane
Another interesting point to the Derwent reservoirs is their association with the 'Dambuster' squadron of the RAF, for they used the Derwent to practise for their famous raid on the Ruhr dams. Since then this event has been regularly commemorated in the Derwent valley with fly-pasts of old bombers and aerial displays. There is a small museum on this theme in the west tower of the Derwent Dam.
