Geocache Description:

You're looking for a disguised micro with log book. Please bring your own pen. Better to walk to this one as the track on the corner is very muddy.

Not strictly a novel as the character was of course very real, but this book by Dr John Sugden is very readable. It has accounts of his circumnavigation to bring home the Golden Hind laden with Spanish treasure, the attack on Cadiz and the defeat of the armada. Sir Francis Drakes' attacks on Spanish cities and ships transformed his private war into a struggle for survival between Protestant England and Catholic Spain in which he became Elizabeth 1's most prominent Admiral. His exploits marked the emergence of England as a major maritime nation.

This cache is one of the Novel Cache Series. The series includes a variety of cache sizes, some suitable for TB drops. Some of the cache containers are themed to the books and some are ordinary caches. The terrain in places was very muddy when set in February and unfortunately some of it involves a walk on the road.

Good parking for the series is at the Forestry Commission pay and display car park at GC2PCWW Novel Cache: Ivy shower, (bear in mind the barrier is locked at night), or next to GC2NHJX Novel Cache: Underground Man or near GC2N2EF Novel Cache Bonus: The Greek Key.
