You can follow this night cache and work your way to the final by remaining on the dirt trail only. The other caches are much more difficult with challenges and puzzles. This is my first night cache and I attempted to make it a little different. It is really 3 caches embedded into one nighttime adventure. You can leave your car at the provided parking coordinates and make a short walk to the first container which contains instructions to complete Lakeview By Night and a legend to the tail markings. You might want to jot down the legend to reference if you are working on all three caches at once.
You should be prepared for your journey. If you decide to attempt all three caches, you will not only be walking dirt trails at night, but you will also have to solve some puzzles . . .
It is strongly suggested that you bring a few other items to assist you with completing these challenging caches. Obviously, you will need a GPS receiver and some spare batteries.
Equally important, you will need a good flashlight and extra batteries.
If you are planning to do either of the two additional puzzle/night caches, you will need paper and pencil to document coordinates as you find or determine them.
Prior preparation is necessary so that you understand the objectives of all three caches and you are prepared with knowledge and equipment to succeed.
These caches would be fun in groups of 3-4 to better find all reflectors, to have diversity in solving the puzzles, and just have all-around geocacher fun. To complete only the Lakeview By Night cache, you will walk approximately 1.25 miles to the cache. You should take coordinates when you start in case you get lost or don't finish in one night.
Again, to only complete the Lakeview By Night cache, you do not have to solve any puzzles. You only need to find and follow the trail and look for the hint container.
You will walk to the trail head after reading the instructions. At the trail head, I suggest you stand at the center of the gate to best view the first reflectors. The final is not on the trail. The location where you turn off the trail is marked, but you will need to read the hints to determine which marker means to turn off the trail for the final. The final cache is an ammo can and there are reflectors very near the cache to point it's location out to you. There are thorns all around the final. I have a $5 Starbucks card for the first to find each of these three caches. If you find all three first, you will receive all Starbucks cards.
