School for Klong Toey (Also spelt khlong toei) which is mostly very cheap housing and folk from the northeast who squatted on Port Authority Land.
This school is run by the Catholic church and I was a Teacher there many many years ago.
Adjacent to the school is one of the entrances to the Port of Bangkok with the slum on the other side.
Klong Toey Slum is one of the oldest and largest slums in Bangkok, having been around for about 50 years. The slum communities are made up of a majority of rural migrants from Northeast Thailand who came to Bangkok for job opportunities. They constantly face threats of eviction from the authorities in Thailand because they have no legal right to the land that they occupy. Thus, they are not able to receive any basic facilities such as water supply, electricity and waste removal from the government. Klong Toey Slum feels like a very compact mini town. Klong Toey Slum has about 100000 people. Klong Toey Slum is also known as Klongtoey Slum.
