This cache is to be found just off Old Road at the top of Combs. The location caught my eye as the rock faces rise up either side of the road making the area look like a scaled-down version of Winnats Pass in Castleton (in my opinion!)
The cache is a small rectangular Lock ‘n’ Lock box. Upon hiding there were a few trade items and a bit of space left over for a trackable or two.
I’ve found that the village of Combs isn’t hugely popular with Geocachers: - although there are a few caches dotted around the area a lot of them seem to be visited infrequently. I’m hoping that by putting this cache near to a road it will be visited a bit more often.
The cache can be found as part of a longer walk incorporating other caches, or simply as a cache and dash. A cache in the area that I’d really recommend is GC1M26R (Combs Circular - Ladder Hill). This cache isn’t one of mine, but I visited it yesterday on the way back from gathering waypoints for this cache. The cache gets very few visitors, which is a real shame as it’s in a stunning spot.
Anyway, back to my cache...
Cache and Dashers will be pleased to hear that there is room to park immediately in front of GZ.
The cache is located slightly above shoulder height, so little Geocachers will need a leg up to reach it.
The cache is in a quiet area, so even though it’s at the roadside you will be able to hear cars coming from quite a distance away. Cyclists however do tend to creep up on you without warning!

To conceal the cache, I have placed a few small stones around and on top of it. Please ensure that these are replaced properly so that the box is hidden from all angles.
