This cache is dedicated to Penny Pack's completion of The
Extraterrestrial Highway caching series in central Nevada. Along
with SCPO Rich and Jerode, Michael completed the series (over 1,020
caches) on 9/5/10 in under 16 hours, a record at that time.
The Extraterrestrial Highway is a state highway in south-central
Nevada in the United States. The highway stretches 98 miles (158
km) from State Route 318 at Crystal Springs northwest to U.S. Route
6 (US 6) at Warm Springs. The route travels through mostly
unoccupied desert terrain, with much of its alignment paralleling
the northern edges of the Nellis Air Force Range and the infamous
Area 51. Over 1,000 caches were placed in the region that attracted
cachers from all over the world before being archived in April,
2011. A PAGA event that chronicled their adventure was held on
April 9, 2011 (GC2F8XB).
