Geocache Description:

This cache is Part 1 of a three part series dedicated to one of the greatest forms of entertainment in American history. At the top of the log is the North Coordinate for "$1.00 per Carload #3" (GC2Q53N).

The area south of the fence now occupied by the QHS baseball field was once the location of the Gem City Drive-In theater.

Opened in 1953 by Robert Ellery, the Gem City Drive-In could accomodate about 500 cars, and the entrance was located on 36th Street. The Gem City Drive-In, with a single screen, was operated for many years by the Kerasotes chain. It closed in 1971, and was later demolished to make way for the new QHS ballfield.

The cost to get in was... Yup $1.00 per Carload. Lots of fun times!
