Geocache Description:

Garbage and washroom facilities available in the parking area. The cache is at the end of a well maintained trail.

Jasper House was one of the earliest outposts of the mountain fur trade. The original post established by the North West Company in 1811 was at Brule Lake. Jasper House received it's name from Jasper Hawes. He was in charge of the post from 1815 to 1821. In 1829 under the Hudson's Bay Company's control the post was moved to the site on the Athabasca River near Jasper Lake. Here Jasper House served mostly as a supply station for fur traders using the Athabasca, Bess and Yellowhead Passes. In accordance with Jasper National Park guidelines no trading items or things that might attract wildlife are to be left in this cache. No TB's of any kind are allowed.
