This is the 1st of 3 caches we have placed to follow on from the "Sledge track- swimming hole" cache. The start of the "Sledge track" can be found at the end of Kahuterewa Rd - about 20 mins drive from "Palmy"
The council suggests it will take 2 hrs to the "View point". or 5-6 hrs to the mines & back. But, I would say its a lot less than that. It took us about 25 mins to run to the "View point", & 2 hrs up & back. However, you may choose to "make a day of it", & enjoy a picnic & a swim. Be sure to follow the signs to the "platinum mines". The "View point" is at the top of the "elevator" We recommend you take warm clothes & raingear, as the weather can change fairly quickly in the ranges. It is also recommended to stick to the formed tracks, as there may be undiscovered mine holes in the area. GPS coverage is fairly scratchy here, but the clue should get you there.
