Geocache Description:

This is a sequel to my previous cache, the Orange Box, I hid back last April. Like the previous one, this cache has you answering questions based around the topic of video games. Each question will give a number as an an answer, and these will be used to reveal where the geocache has been hidden.

The coordinates already revealed are for parking, and go to a small car park, just on the coast road between Musselburgh and Prestonpans, opposite Preastongrange.

When you have figured out the cache coordinates, it should point less than .2 miles away from the parking coordinates. The path isn't safe for those disabled or for prams.

Whilst you are in the area, you may also want to try out my Mother's cache, I'm a Little Teapot, a multi cache where clues are found within Prestongrange, linked here: (visit link)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this cache, and good luck!

1) In 2007, Valve corporation released a collection of video games known as the Orange Box (which this cache is named after). One of the games included was called Portal, an experimental title, which noone at the company had any certainty would be successful or not.

It turned into a huge hit, thanks to its addictive game play, and brilliant storyline, featuring one of the most memorable antagonists in video games, and even having quite possibly the greatest ending credits ever! The game's sequel, after over 3 long years is due to be released in April, and looks incredibly promising.

My question is, in the first game, what delicious food substance was often written on the walls as being a lie?

The number of letters in the word will be known as A.

2) In 1997, Interplay released a role playing game, otherwise known as an RPG, called Fallout.
While many RPGs take place in mythical landscapes, often with knights in shining armour and wizards, elves etc, Fallout was much different. Instead, it had you play after the apocalypse, in an alternate future where the USA and the Chinese went to war and nuked each other into oblivion, where the few survivors lived in government constructed underground vaults.

The series was known for its strong narrative, including some celebrity voice talent, with Ron Perlman, aka Hellboy, being the narrator. The series still continues today, with the most recent being called New Vegas, being set in Las Vegas Nevada.

My question is, which numbered Fallout entry took place in the remnants of Washington DC, where the player had to find their missing father, played by Liam Neeson?

This will be known as B.

3) In 1994, Sega released the 3rd entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog series of games. This game is still a favourite for many today, and despite its age, its still a favourite game for many, as it has stayed looking remarkable due to its 2D looks, and “blast processing!”

The game also had a killer soundtrack, in fact due to how high profile the game was to be, Sega initially hired Michael Jackson to do the soundtrack of the game, but was later fired due to a scandal at the time. Many still believe his music was still left in regardless, simply due to how high quality it is. (If you ever have the time, go onto youtube and type in the ice cap zone, or the lava reef zone, or the flying battery zone, some of the greatest gaming music you will ever hear).

The game also made Sonic's sidekick Tail's playable. My question is, how many tails does Tail's actually have?

This will be known as C.

4) In 1996, the game Tomb Raider would be released, introducing the world to the one of gaming's most recognisable characters, Lara Croft. She would go on to be one very influential, with even a couple of pretty bad movies with her being played by Angelina Jolie.

However, the franchise of games she is in have often varied in quality, and the developers have tried to rework the basic premise of the game a couple of times, to freshen the games up, with this years Tomb Raider game being drastically different from the previous ones.

My question is, when was Tomb Raider Underworld, the last “proper” Tomb Raider game, released?

This will be known as 200D.

5) In 2009, Rocksteady released the game Batman: Arkham Asylum. Until its release, many shunned it as a bad game cashing in on a famed movie license. However, upon its release, it
got near universal acclaim, due to its implementation of melee combat, stealth and its great plot, with many famed Batman villains appearing and being expertly voiced.

Its sequel, Arkham City, is heavily anticipated. My question is, which villain, with a number in their name, and with an obsession with his coin, will appear to be the major villain of Arkham City?

E will be the number in the villain’s name

6) In 2008, the Playstation 3 exclusive, Little Big Planet was released. It was acclaimed due to players being able to create their own levels of nearly anything they wished. It was considered a great game, due to the amount of freedom, its charming looks, and even it being narrated by Stephen Fry.

My question is, how many letters are there in the 2 words the mascot of the game is called? They begin with S and B. The total amount of letters will be known as F

Now that you have your answers, they should be arranged as the following:

N55.57.(B-C) (F+E) (D-E)
W003.00.(A+B-C) B (F-E)

These should give you the coordinates to the cache.

Good luck, happy hunting, and I hope you found this interesting and fun. :)
