Geocache Description:

Located at Manzanilla beach with a great view of the Atlantic ocean.

Manzanilla beach is approximately 17 miles long, and bordered by countless coconut and mangrove trees. It is quite at drive from the capital city Port of Spain - about 1 1/2 – 2 hours depending on traffic conditions. The easiest route is to drive to the town of Sangre Grande and follow the road to Manzanilla and Mayaro.

It is a beautiful and quite undisturbed natural area, with a long sandy beach that offers great opportunity for a long walk, jogging or games/sports on the beach. The ocean is ok for swiming, but make sure to excercise care, in particular if you are not familiar with the under currents. Stay close to one of the manned life guard booths and do not go deeper into the water than you think is safe.

There are lifeguards on duty close to the Manzanilla beach facility, which is located almost immediately on your left hand side as the road from Sangre Grande comes to the long stretch running allong the beach. There are snack bars and a restaurant in that area as well, picnic tables and also changing rooms, showers and toilet facilities – and a parking lot for vehicles. You can park here if you wish to enjoy a long walk on the beach towards the cache location. If not, you can drive directly to the cache location also, however, longer term parking next to the cache area may not be recommended, since it is not in a secured parking lot.

This side of the island is less developed, not a lot of visitors come here, especially not on week days, so you pretty much have the beach to yourself. Still use the usual stealth and caution when looking for the cache. Also pay attention not to disturb or get bitten by insects (ants or otherwise) or any other animals that may be hiding at the cache location.

Remember to keep T&T beautiful, especially our nature, the forests and our beaches! Do not litte and where possible walk with an empty plastic bag to pick up and properly dispose of any rubbish you may see around while geocaching!

You are looking for a clear plastic container with a white plastic cover. The log book and other papers are inside clear plastic ziplock bags. There are also a pencil and sharpener, a few coloured lucky gem stones, a small red scented candle and a large paper/document clip inside. If you wish to take out something, please place back something else. There should be sufficient room inside the container for most average size geocoins and travel bugs.
