Geocache Description:

One of a series caches hidden somewhere in Southern Country Park. Fairly easy to get to but will need a bit of scrabbling about to find. Handicaching average rating: H32232

The cache is a small one in a camo container, with all the normal stuff, log book, pencil, some stuff for kids, a bit of scrabbling around may be required. Southern County Park is a lovely 23 hectares park on the outskirts of Bishop's Stortford. The park has several distinct areas, the balancing pond for fishing and duck feeding, an enclosed picnic area and large grassed areas for informal play and kite flying, plus an older children's play area adjacent to the car park off Thorley Lane East, three Orienteering routes and a dog activity area. There are also a wide variety of wildlife habitats and features such as woodland, grazing areas, chalk banks, informal play spaces, streams and a small natural pond. The park is a great place to start walks that lead out into the greater Hertfordshire countryside, Southern Country Park is one of East Herts Councils best and newest parks, covering approximately 23ha. Created as part of a Section 106 agreement in the late 80s; East Herts Council took it over in 2001, winning the a prestigious Green Flag Award in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
