Geocache Description:

This cache is located near Rinehart Rd and SR 46A (aka HE Thomas Jr Pkwy). It is south of 46A a little over 6 tenths of a mile on the West side of Rinhart in a medical plaza you can enter by Oakland Hills Circle. This little sinkhole can be entered via a small path on the southeast side of the vegetation surrounding the sinkhole. I am ranking it a 3 terrain since you will need to be careful walking around some tree branches and on the slope of the sinkhole.

My noon time walking buddy and fellow cacher JoeJoe53 wandered upon this quaint little oasis as part of our many exploratory walks from working not too far from the Cross Seminole Trail (CST) from the West side of I-4. You can use the CST to get within a quarter mile of this cache on the East side of I-4, or get get much closer by driving there.

We named this cache Skull Duggery Oasis because we first entered this sink hole and JoeJoe53 almost stepped on the skull we found pictured here. We thought of quite a few different animals it could have come from, and verified what we think it was by Googling various animal skulls before we came up with what animal we think this skull was. We decided to leave the skull near the cache, but I doubt you’ll see it easily. When you find the cache, look around and see if you can find the skull (she’ll be looking at you :-)

We think this micro climate sinkhole will be here for quite some time for cachers to enjoy, but please don’t try and blaze your own trail, even though the cache is on the side of the sinkhole away from where our suggested trail begins. The length of this little trail is roughly 75 yards.

The FTF prize will be a new 2 gig USB. If you are like me, you’ve already misplaced one, and sent one thru the wash cycle, so you just can’t have too many USB storage devices on hand.

Take a look at the image of the skull on the cache below. Please leave a note as to what animal you think this belonged to in your log entry. Just take your best guess, and then go look it up later. It will be fun to see all the "best guess" answers before you look them up.

Happy caching, and watch out for what is watching out for you!!

** A big congrats to JirafaBo for the FTF prize!! His guess for the skull being a "Southeastern Sinkhole Swampwampus" is probably not right, but since I've never seen one of those, we'll have to see if anyone else comes up with something better. And condolences go to "lizardsally" as what she thought was a FTF turned into a dissappointing second. Both went for this cache in wet and muddy conditions, a true testament to the mental instability of die hard cachers.
