Geocache Description:

Inning #1: Bang the Drum Slowly is one in a series of caches to be released this Spring. Starting this week one cache will be released each Saturday somewhere along the highway 78 corridor, in or between, Oceanside and Escondido starting with this cache. Each week the FTF for that particular cache will be awarded a home run (4 bases), the 2nd to find a triple (3 bases), the 3rd to find a double (2 bases) and the 4th to find a single (1 base). Bases will accumulate and whoever has the most will be crowned the World Series Champion. What do they win? My admiration (unless I come across some prizes to dole out).

Logs should be clear as to who is first, second, third, and fourth to find otherwise the Commissioner will have to simply award bases on his best judgment. The season starts TODAY!

PLAAAAAAAY BALL!

This season I honor the greatest baseball films. Inning #1 is in honor of the 1973 release "Bang the Drum Slowly".

From Wikipedia:

Bang the Drum Slowly is a 1973 film adaptation of the 1956 baseball novel of the same name by Mark Harris. It was previously dramatized in 1956 on the U.S. Steel Hour with Paul Newman and Albert Salmi. It was directed by John D. Hancock and stars Michael Moriarty and a then-little-known Robert De Niro as baseball teammates. De Niro's performance in this film and in Mean Streets, released two months later, brought him widespread acclaim. .
