Way back in the fall an idea came up
over a drink with a bunch of great locals to go and explore
Governors Island. As the island was already closed for the season,
we had to wait and ponder when will the NYC gods smile and send
another ferry our way.
The time has come! We will venture out
the Sunday of the Memorial Day weekend on the first ferry that
leaves at 10:00 am. Activities available on the island include bike
rentals, kayaking, museum exhibits and many others. Bring lunch,
but there is also food available for purchase on the island.
The free ferry will take off from
the Battery Maritime Building located at 10 South Street, adjacent
to the Staten Island Ferry, and to log the event you must be on the
very first one (leaving at 10:00 am) with the rest of the
group.
The theme of the
day shall be Boats and Boat travel. Prizes will be available for
the best handmade boat and the best boat themed outfit. The more
creative you'll get - the better.
