"Aha, Brer Rabbit!" said Mister Man. "I've got you at last - escape if you can! I'll tie you up tight, then I'll fetch a big cane.. And whack you and smack you, again and again. He called to his daughter, and put her on guard, while he fetched his big stick to whip Brer Rabbit hard. Brer Rabbit, he stood up and sang loud and sweet, and the little girl laughed and kept time with her feet.
"Dance for me, dance for me, Brer Rabbit, do, Sing once again and dance for me too!" "Well untie this rope and I'll dance might and main, I'll frolic and caper and carol again!" So the little girl freed him, and Brer Rabbit danced, and out of the gateway he capered and pranced. And when Mister Man came, he saw in dismay, that Brer Rabbit had danced right away!
