Geocache Description:

A top spot for a picnic on the banks of the impressive Mokihinui.

This Cache is located close to the Mokihinui river and is also the starting point for the Mokihinui valley tramping route. It takes around 8 hours maximum to walk into the Mokihinui Forks hut and Goat Creek hut is further upstream as well.

This is classified as a route as it's pretty rough in places and there are several slips which sound pretty interesting, so not recommended for inexperienced trampers.

You can drive to within 5 metres of the cache, a 4WD vehicle is recommended though there were 2WD vehicles down at the carpark when we were in there. There is one ford which is a concrete crossing so pretty smooth.

When down on the river have a look at how high the river was in recent floods, pretty impressive!!
