There has always been one type of cache that stands out as the favorite to hunt. A nice ammo can in the middle of the woods. I always enjoy finding regular caches whether they are just a few feet off a parking lot or 2 miles down a trail. Yet a large majority of the caches around us are micros. Don't get me wrong micros can be fun, they're easy to hide, and they don't go missing as easily (and if they do they're easy to replace). Earlier this year I spotted a challenge in North Carolina that had finders find 100 regular or large geocaches. It is one of the most fun times I have had completing a challenge.
In order to log this cache you must first find 100 regular or large Geocaches in a calendar year after January 1, 2011
There is no silly publication date requirement because we want to encourage people to not only find ammo cans but to hide them as well!
1. Generally accepted rules, guidelines, and conditions for logging a cache find apply. All caches must be listed on Geocaching.com that you have found and logged.
2. While you may have others with you when you find the final cache, only those who have fulfilled all criteria for this cache will be allowed to log it as a find.
3. Hides may not be substituted for a find to meet the requirements for this cache
Demonstrate your completion of the challenge in one of two ways: a subset of your 'my finds' PQ, text in the log, or create a Bookmark list.
The cache is a well stocked ammo can hidden deep in Harbison State Forest. There's a $5 ($25 annual) parking permit fee which can be paid at most of the marked parking areas. The gates are locked after 4:30 pm on weekdays and 6:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday. It's OK to be in the forest until sunset, but if you expect to be in the park after hours, be sure to park your car outside the gates to avoid the parking fine. Check the posted signs for seasonal variations to the gate schedule.
