Geocache Description:

Seeking this cache will bring you to Jay Hood Wright Park in Washington Heights. The park has a bit of history to it (easily searchable via Google) and is a great little oasis in the area. The main dominating feature becomes apparent if you walk over to the NW corner of the park, where you will find a fantastic view of the George Washington Bridge. It opened in 1931 and has gone on to become one of the (if not the most) busiest bridges in the world.

Cache is placed near the SE entrance of the park and should be accessible any time of the day. Walking through the park to NW will bring you to an area with one heck of a view of the bridge. There is also a northern entrance to the park. From there, if you keep heading north along Pinehurst Ave. to 178th St. and make a left (heading west), you will come to an entrance to the footbridge that allows you walk across the GW Bridge. A bit loud, but definitely recommended (e.g., there are some nice caches tucked away along the Palisades on the NJ side). Conversely, there are various ways to walk down to the nice waterfront park lining the Hudson and see the sights down there (e.g., the 'Little Red Lighthouse').

[4.7.11] Congrats to addisonbr for the FTF (that was fast!)

[6.17.11] Coords. changed to other side of the park. Slightly better location I think....
