This is the 2nd of my "Walk through the Park" caches. This is
a
multi-cache that starts at the little known William L. Taylor
Park and will eventually lead you onto the Miner's Ravine
bike
trails. This is another of the many neighborhood parks that
Roseville has to offer. The total walk on this cache is about 1
mile
there and back and has very slight inclines and some brush
and
boulders at the end. Lots of animal life can be seen here.
This cache uses William L Taylor park as a starting point. If
anyone has information on the park's namesake, please message me
so
I can include it here. This is a 1.7-acre neighborhood park
featuring a picnic area, a play structure, a 1/2 basketball
court
and open turf. This cache is perfectly acceptable for dogs and
kids
with the exception of the final hide location.
I love this park and near by trails for all their wildlife. I
have
seen turkeys, egrets, pheasants, woodpeckers, ducks, falcons,
finches, jackrabbits, squirrels, raccoons, lizards, fish and
butterflies to name a few. Please post pictures of any
wildlife
that you spot while hunting this cache.
Cache Directions:
1.) Starting out at the park entrance look around at
the
amenities. You will notice the play structure directly ahead,
picnic area a little more to the right and lastly, the
basketball
courts to your far right.
2.) As you look at the basketball courts you will see
that
"someone" is standing at the edge of the basketball courts
just
monitoring this "electrifying" game. This "person" stands about
5
feet tall and has a "pale tan". He is carrying 2 locks and the key
to your
next coordinates are between these locks. Go over close to him
to
get those coordinates. (You may notice that there are more than
100
trees newly planted behind him. This is part of a restoration
project to
bring back the native oaks that were removed to build the park
and
the nearby extension of the bake trails. This is also an area
that
Turkeys and pheasants like to mate during Spring.)
3.) If you talked to the fellow with the "pale tan" at
the
basketball courts, he should have given you coordinates that
have
led you to an area just off the bike trails about a half to a
quarter mile away from your starting point. This area is only
about
20 feet off the trail and very visible to passing muggles so
please
be discreet. This is also the point that you will want to have
the
smaller kiddos stand and wait on the paved trail. You will
notice
some trees with a very large grouping of boulders at their
base.
You will need to carefully look around. You should find an
old
camouflaged ammo can full of goodies. The goodies will more
than
make up to the kiddos for having to wait. Be careful for
wildlife
including snakes and spiders. I haven't seen any snakes here,
but
they certainly could be.
