A nicely placed cache overlooking Walney channel

Parking close to this cache is at N54 07.026 W003 14.660 but not advise if the collage is open.
This geocache is a great cache to see Walney and loads of amazing views. Jubilee bridge ( walney bridge ) was opened in 1909 much to the disgust of the Furness railway co, who had operated a ferry across to Walney from Barrow, but after the opening there was a toll you had to pay to cross the bridge so they could pay for the bridge. There are lots of funny stories of how people used to creep under the toll so they didn't have to pay, or woman who used to run across with babies in their prams. People used to get scared of the bridge as it was wooden so you could see the sea under it and every time you walked on it lots of creaking noises could be heard. On the south of the geo cache you can see Jubilee bridge. You can also walk up from this geocache to the slag bank which is a great walk and has benches you can rest on throughout the venture up the hill. They have now built an extension on the slag bank with great views including Black Combe which is a great hill to climb.
You can enjoy a day of plane spotting as this cache has a view of walneys (short runway) airport. Bae systems land their planes here and the RAF ( Royal Air Force) practice their taking off on these short runways .
The Furness college requires first class education for the community it helps improve your Childs education and chances of gaining jobs. This is a short walk to our other caches on the steelworks pond and the dock musieeeeee cache.
