A stuffed .50 cal ammo box in the woods. Awesomeness!
Located in the extreme southern end of Bond Lake County Park in Niagara County. Why the name? The proximity to the gun club, of course. You may hear some gunfire, and it may sound very, very close! Don't worry about it, you're fine. You're in the park, for pete's sake.
The reasons for this are twofold; one, I had to stay the minimum 528 feet from Team Headrush's classic 2002 hide "Bond Lake", and two, I wanted to make you climb the escarpment, and I found that most of the escarpment along the south side of the park is actually outside the park boundry. Only on this end does it jut into the park. So apologies to Team Headrush for the proximity to their classic cache, which is .12 miles away, according to my ancient Garmin.
This cache is about .42 miles one way from the main parking area. There are trails that will take you within 100 feet of the cache, but you'll walk longer. The shortest route is a beeline bushwacking across a mostly open field. But be advised there's a ditch at the end of it.
Ammo box provided by Watcher#3, Dragonflyguy, Cheektowaga Chap and Self-Righteous Windbag, who all agreed it should not be hidden on any other Geocaching websites but this one.
