THIS IS A NIGHT CACHE. The operation should be performed in the uttermost impossible silence. We have received the highest level clearance approval; however there will not be records available after the successful completion of the operation.
THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES. The coordinates posted above are your drop-off point and will position you and your team at the entry point behind enemy lines. Once you are in the trail you and your team will be on your own until you reach the extraction point 1.77 klicks away back in our territory. Radio silence is a must and should not be break upon any circumstances. If you or any member of your team is captured or injured we can't bring you any help.
Make sure you include a tracker in your team. Every member of your team must have a flashlight. Check in your inventory for headlamps, they work the best under these particular circumstances and in these environment. Don't forget a good pair of boots with a high definition thread on the bottom soles. Our satellites' surveillance revealed an uneven terrain, which includes dry creeks, steep climbs, and dirty rocky terrain that may turn muddy and sleepery when raining. There is also much vegetation in the area which may difficult the access to some key locations within the trail.
Whenever you are ready to be briefed go on reading the following instructions and more detailed information.
BACKGROUND
The source of this particular mission resides on the fact that we have already lost a team in the area when they were trying to reach the extraction point after accessing the hidden location of the information you want to obtain. The first lost team left a trace of firetacks along the route they followed. They were able to send us the key to decode the path they left behind, which is the path you and your team will follow.
Our intelligence indicates that the enemy has prior knowledge of our attempts on retrieving this information and it has increased the level of security at the hidden location. It has concealed the log book in a highly safety device that requires some sort of password decoding on the field. We are not able to give you this information right now. However our spies were able to retrieve the code from four different locations. Lamentabily the drone that was flying back with the information was shot down in the area. Four beacons were spread along the trail when the unmanned aricraft went down.
A crucial part of your mission is to find these four beacons along the trail you will follow. Your team will need these pieces to open the security device and retrieve the log book. However finding this information is not necessary to find the cache. These beacons are NOT stages in a multi; just following the firetacks along the trail is enough to reach the cache's final location. However you will need to get all four pieces of information to retrieve the logbook inside the cache.
INSTRUCTIONS
At the drop-off point, where you will start your journey you must locate the first fire tack attached to the trunk of a near by tree. Move forward following the trail until you reach the next firetack. There is always a trail to follow, which might get covered if the vegetation has grown in the seasons of Spring and Summer.
Keep following the single firetack path until you reach two firetacks together. The team we lost left two firetacks as a sign that a 90 degrees turn must be taken, either left or right. At the intersection search for the nearest single tack on either side of the trail you have reached and follow it in a straight way.
While you are walking the trail be sure to constantly look around and point your flashlights to both sides of the trail all the time. We are not sure if the enemy is guarding the area, but most important you must find any tree that has three firetacks all together. That is the information beacon's signal. It means that that particular tree has a vital piece of information you will need later to open the security device at ground zero. Write the code down or memorize it and remember all the attributes/characteristics of its container. Remember you need to find four trees that each has three firetacks all together stuck on their trunks. The beacon should be attached to the trunk on the wood near by the firetacks cluster.
Finally at your last turn, when you find the last two firetacks together, you should be able to spot a cluster of four firetacks. That was the last confirmed location we received from the team we lost. We assume the device is hidden in close proximity of these markers. We have set an extraction point near by. Once you have found the device, cracked open the security device and got to the logbook, return to the trail and follow it to the end. A UH-1 (Huey helicopter) should be waiting for you and your team.
Remember that the only way we will be sure you have made a positive successful find is if you actually find the logbook inside the security device. Only valid finds, which means a signature in the logbook, will be accepted as finds (smileys). Otherwise write a note and come back later if you are not able to open the security device or if your team runs out of time and needs to be extracted before you successfully have completed the mission.
DEBRIEFING
After you have successfully retrieved the device and information please contact headquarters with the following piece of information, when you were logging your find:
What is the image on the bottom right corner of every page in logbook?
This information will be vital in order to verify the success of your operations. Otherwise you may arrange another visit to the location to open the device and properly sign the logbook.
SUMMARY
Starting point coordinates. Trailhead: N 39° 10.277 W 096° 36.773
The total hiking distance is about 1.1 miles from start to finish.
The cache's difficulty rate is a 5 because it is a relative long hike at night in a unknown terrain and it might be hard to find. Plus it has a field puzzle involved.
Cache's terrain rate is a 3 because there is a trail all the way to the final cache location. However it might be not easy to follow at night.
This is the key of firetacks for your team to follow:
 |
Follow the trail on a straight line. Stay in the trail. |
  |
Two fire tacks means a tight 90 degrees turn to the left or right. Look for the next single fire tack on either side. |
   |
Three fire tacks marks the location of an info tree. Every tree has a color bison tube attached to its trunk. |
    |
Four fire tacks marks the hidden location of this mysterious cache. |
Good louck and happy hunting !!!
