This cache is situated near Vernon house. This is a short walk from the end of Pondside Lane near other caches which could extend your walk.
Vernon Hill House, which stands north east of Bishop’s Waltham on the hill of the same name, dates from the late 17th or early 18th century. It is named after Admiral Edward Vernon (1684 - 1757) and it is thought that he built it following the capture of Porto Bello . Later, Ralph Waldo Emerson the American philosopher and poet visited
here.
