Emerald Breasted hoot (flatulence tootsalot)
Native to Czechoslovakia this bird originally hitchhiked to
America on Czech pirate ships. During the great prune and bean
prohibition days the Czechs would smuggle prunes and beans to the
US. The hoots would stowaway and feed upon the stocks of beans and
prunes – hence the origin of the name. The coloring is
probably also a result of the same.
Most people tend to avoid contact with the hoots and hunting and
eating them is beyond comprehension.
