Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the given co-ordinates. The final location is approximately ½ mile from Hersham Centre. A gentle stroll along the River Mole using footpaths. Whilst the journey to the final
location could be tackled with a wheel chair, assistance would be needed to retrieve the cache.

This is quite a simple puzzle cache.

The Final cache is a camouflaged snap-lock box 6" x 4" x 2" containing log book and pen. A geocoin. A Virgin sim card (unused), a toy car, a trolley coin keyring, a pin badge, a lock and a child's clipboard.

To locate the cache you need to find several items in the centre. The first is a plaque for a time capsule, on it is the date it was buried, in the form day month year, given 'A' for the day and 'BCDE' for the year.

The centre was built on the site of the old slaughterhouse, the entrance still exists on the Molesey Road opposite the pub. Often on my walk to school, we had to wait for a lorry to back into the entrance. Other times, with larger lorries, it backed up as far as it could go and small fences where put up and the animals could be seen being off loaded in the road. Once or twice some of the escaped and they where chased around the village.

When the centre was built Berry Lane, now Old Berry Lane, was shut, allowing for the car park to be built. It now exists as New Berry Lane, which leads down the side of the infants school, which I used to attend a couple of years ago (and I can now plait sawdust), to Paul Vanson Court. This is a purpose built sheltered accommodation for OAP's.
