The Ericson Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team_Schnauzer: I love this location, but we've had several geocachers that have been stopped by nearby landowners asking us what they were doing there. The cache is on public right-of-way, but the folks that live in the area apparently are not thrilled with cachers being at this location because they have had to deal with vandalism over the past. We will humbly archive this cache. It was fun while it lasted.

Geocache Description:

Quick P&G just off US-30 in Eastern Boone County. Original contents are log only - BYOP

It's no surprise that you probably haven't heard of Ericson, Iowa - it was never an incorporated community. Not much is really known about the "crossroads" that used to be located here, but I would assume that whatever was left of this hamlet was blown away by the massive EF-5 tornado that slammed into nearby Jordan on June 13, 1976. Now all that remains here is an old grain elevator, a bunch of semi trailers and an Iowa Sesquicentennial sign marking this as an actual place.

*Congrats to Vyp on another Team_Schnauzer FTF!*
