Space Quest ]|[ - The Pirates of Pestulon Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Unitzoid: Approaching the coordinates for the final, I spotted a tupperware lid on the ground. Not a good sign. Picking it up and moving on, it was evident that some alien creature from Pestulon (or just a local varmint) tore up the geocache. Bits and tattered pieces were everywhere marred by claw and teeth marks. A previous late night check came to mind and how fortunate I was not to meet such a beast!

It's probably best to let this listing go and begin an inevitable tailspin into obscurity. Thanks to everyone that sought Space Quest ]|[!

Geocache Description:

NOTE! The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates! They can be found in the short narrative below.

Space Quest III - The Pirates of Pestulon

Escaping the confines of a robotic trash freighter, Roger Wilco sets course for the nearest Monlith Burger in his newly acquired junk heap . . . er, ship, the Aluminum Mallard. It's been at least two adventures since he's had something decent to eat!

After ordering some greasy delights from an overly pimply green teenager, Roger spies an arcade module next to the counter. He flips in a buckazoid and begins playing a game called "Astro Chicken". It looks like just another Scumsoft knock-off, but, hey, it'll make the wait time shorter. The controls take a little getting used to at first, but soon our janitor of the stars has them figured out well enough to progress. A few minutes pass and the game freezes with an odd message.

Arcade Message

What a bunch of nonsense! Taking his (now cold) order and sitting down at a nearby booth, Roger unwraps and bites into a burger. Blech! It tastes much like the slick skin of a Vorlian mucusworm! Roger decides to finish the meal despite common sense. Vainly ignoring the taste, he contemplates those weird symbols . . .

All the information required to solve the above puzzle may be found on this cache page . . . somewhere. This cache is loosely based on Space Quest III - The Pirates of Pestulon which was produced by Sierra On-Line in 1989.
