Geocache Description:

Welcome to “18 Mile Creek”, a spot popular with hikers, fishermen, and of course, geocachers.

Park your geomobile at the new DEC-established parking area at N42 42.383 W078 53.595. As you may notice as you drive down to this area, it is the ONLY area that you can park along this road. The No Parking Signs are abundant in this region.

Your hike will begin along a paved path, but don’t let that fool you; there will be some more challenging terrain coming up soon. Just don’t jump the gun and bushwack your way straight to the cache. Trust me; the trail is a much easier and faster way to meander to ground zero.. Be patient, enjoy the sights, take a few pictures, just don't go TOO close to the edge. Stay on the trail until you get REALLY close to the hide, as it is hidden only 10 to 15 feet from the trail.

The search for the cache will give you several spectacular views of 18-Mile Creek, as well as take you past a few other fine (and challenging) geocache hides. There is no climbing equipment needed, and most of the time, you’ll only need a hiking stick in addition to your gps unit. From your geo-mobile to the cache site is a 1.3 mile hike. The path is well-defined, and easy to follow.

Eighteen Mile creek is actually longer than 18 miles. The name refers to the distance from the head of Lake Erie at Buffalo. This fossil-rich creek bed feeds into Lake Erie at Lakeside. It is just to the West, where the mouth of the creek empties, that you will find the Lake Erie Cliffs.
This cache is placed as part of the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Geotrail, located within the Buffalo/Niagara Falls Region.
