No, its not name after the Virgin Mary but the late Alex Madonna who owns quite a bit of property around here. Madonna Road, a shopping center, misnamed Madonna Mountain, lot of surrounding property, and of course the famous Madonna Inn. His signature color is a bright pink and you will notice a pink barn to the north.
While putting in the Home Depot store down Los Osos Valley Road, he was supposed to have intruded into some wetland. As mitigation, he was required to set aside this land as a wetland. Depending on how much rain falls during the rainy season will determine the amount of water and how long into the Spring and Summer it will last. Usually it is dry sometime in the summer time.
Bird watchers frequently pull out in this area but since this can be a busy road, please exercise care.
