A cache series on the abandoned
railbed of The Bytown and Prescott Railway
Please do not drive to the caches on
this trail.
This series of 17
caches is placed between County Road 21 from Spencerville in the
north, and Glen Smail Road in the south. They are all placed close
to the rail line.
History Tidbit: The rail line was by Walter Shanly, the
distinguished civil engineer who would eventually become a Member
of Parliament and exercise considerable influence in nineteenth
century railway matters. In these days of GPS satellite systems it
is difficult to imagine how surveys were carried out 150 years
ago.
All the micro caches are winter friendly, but some of the larger
ones are not.
This section of the trail should be easy to navigate by mountain
bike, and is in quite good shape.
The trail is part of the snowmobile trails in the area.
Good luck and have fun!
